Equipment Advice

For swimmers who are new to Kingsbridge Kingfishers Swimming Club, they will require the following items for Club Night on Thursday:

  • Swimming costume (not bikini) - girls
  • Shorts (not board shorts), jammers (ie. shorts that go down to knee level) or skimpies - boys
  • Swim goggles
  • Drink bottle
  • Swim hat (compulsory for long hair)
  • Towel
  • Swim kit bag/rucksack (optional)

For swimmers doing more than one training session per week, we recommend that the swimwear is of chlorine-resistant / endurance material.  You can find further advice on swimwear on our Swimwear Advice page

Changing Room Etiquette

Please make your new swimmers aware that there are regularly 40+ swimmers changing between swim sessions on a Thursday evening. It is not acceptable to leave bags, clothes etc in the changing rooms whilst they swim, as this causes chaos for every other swimmer trying to get ready for the next session. Please impress upon your swimmers to use the lockers provided. Thank you.

Training Aids

We recommend that Gold squad members have the following kit:

  • Hand paddles  Small in size for technique, ( Larger ones for power optional)
  • Forward facing snorkle with optional but recommened nose clip
  • Fins. Although we have fins for people with growing feet, if your feet are fully grown you may want your own.
  • Kick boards, Again we have boards but your own is recommended and it then wont get eaten and chewed!
  • Pull Bouys
  • Mesh Bag

The Club also holds the following training aids for swimmers to use but swimmers can bring their own, particularly if training more than one or two sessions per week:

  • Pullbuoys
  • Fins
  • Hand paddles
  • Kickboards
