Squads

We have three main squads: Bronze, Silver and Gold, plus a Masters squad. Swimmers are placed by ability and progress through the squads as they develop. Here's what each squad is about:

Bronze Squad — Develop

Bronze is where it all begins. Swimmers in Bronze squad focus on developing all four strokes, as well as their turns and starts, before getting invited to compete at their first meets. It's a fun, supportive environment where confidence is built alongside technique.

Bronze squad swimmers compete at:

  • Devon Developments

  • City of Plymouth meets

  • Level 4 meets

All swimmers also race at Race Night in May and Club Championships in November.

Silver Squad — Learn

Silver squad is where swimmers start learning how to train to perform. Sessions get more demanding, race craft develops, and competition experience builds. Silver swimmers are working towards qualifying times and starting to target bigger events.

Silver squad swimmers compete at:

County Qualifier Championships

Gold Squad — Train

Gold squad trains hard — 4+ hours per week — with the goal of racing at the highest level possible. This is where the most committed and capable swimmers push for regional and national qualification.

Gold squad swimmers compete at:

  • Regional Championships
  • English Nationals
  • British Championships

Masters Squad

Our Masters squad is open to adult swimmers who want to train and compete. Sessions run on Tuesday evenings and Friday evenings. If you're interested in joining, email kksccoach@gmail.com or speak to Paul, our Masters Rep.

How do I move between squads?

Squad progression is decided by the coaching team based on performance, attitude and readiness. Swimmers will be told by their coach when they're ready to move up. If you have questions about squad placement, speak to the Head Coach.
